What's old is new
This is my place to show off the items I would call vintage, things I have either refinished or kept as is and find interesting. I am still a kid at heart bringing home what some might call junk and am always in search of that buried treasure. I am not a picker and I am not a hoarder, working with my hands on my own time repairing or refinishing the things I find brings me peace of mind and time to myself to contemplate whatever has transpired in my life or time to just zone out and concentrate on the task at hand. Some items for sale or possible trade just ask..click on my profile and send me an email.

Krug Dining Chairs-Oak Office Chair-Chrome Lamp-The Chair I Broke
Hit a garage/estate sale and totally passed on a set of four Krug dining chairs identical to the ones in the stock picture at the top, WTF how dumb am I for not buying. They needed restoring as the finish was worn off on the backrests just from being handled over the years but still they were awesome. Anyhow moved on down the road to the Waterford Antique Market and low and behold, THE SAME FRIGGIN SET OF KRUG CHAIRS AND THE TABLE with a price tag of $395, ARGH! I felt like Charlie Brown every time Lucy pulls away the football before he kicks. So we made are way to Brantford and ran into dead ends at the thrift stores however while heading home, BOOM awesome score at another yard sale where I picked up the chrome lamp, the oak office chair, and the Danish style chair. A little polish on the chrome lamp and paint stripper on the oak office chair and they will look good, the Danish modern style chair I snapped the leg while unloading and I'm not caring to much about as it has a crap reupholster job on it with angle brackets holding the arms on, for the $5 I paid and the heavy stink of cigarettes it can go in the trash, overall it was a 50/50 kind of day. Just checked the classified ads now and the garage/estate sale is on again tomorrow that has the Krug dinner chairs.

Those Krug chairs are sweet! I'll keep my fingers crossed that they're still there for you. Glad you only broke something you didn't really mind trashing. We closed the garage door on a chair we had just paid $100 for shortly after we opened the store (and really couldn't afford to pay that much for chairs). Talk about sick!
ReplyDeleteUGH! $100 would leave me feeling sick also, $5 however and a stink of cigs that is literally smelling up a 10ft radius around the chair in the back yard(seriously)well I say bye bye. Fingers crossed the Krug chairs are still there Sunday.
DeleteI would have probably not passed on the chairs...they look too nice...I've had those 50/50 days too! Won some and lost some with some regret...If you're feelin' it then, hit it...Gotta trust your intuition sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI'm def swinging bye that sale again Sunday, there was also a lot of other furniture piled in spare rooms in the basement but you had to wait till the layers of stuff with sold tags was peeled back to reveal more, I'm keeping my fingers crossed the Krug chairs are still there and maybe some other bonuses.
DeleteOh yeah, go back early and snatch those Krugs! That is a sweet style, and you can never have too many dining chairs! Let's see...I have 31 total, not counting the 6 Saarinen executive chairs. You just never know when you're gonna have company.
ReplyDeleteI know I'm so kicking myself, the sale is out in a very rural area not far from where I grew up so hopefully there wasn't much traffic after I went through and I can still score them.
DeleteOh, and that chrome lamp is a pretty awesome score by itself. Good job!
ReplyDeleteThe lamp is in great shape and the wiring is good, I basically stole both chairs and the lamp and didn't have to haggle. The black painted oak office chair and the lamp were mega scores, while the other that snapped like a twig was messed to begin so it's no sweat.
Deletebeautiful chair. thanks for posting them.
