What's old is new

This is my place to show off the items I would call vintage, things I have either refinished or kept as is and find interesting. I am still a kid at heart bringing home what some might call junk and am always in search of that buried treasure. I am not a picker and I am not a hoarder, working with my hands on my own time repairing or refinishing the things I find brings me peace of mind and time to myself to contemplate whatever has transpired in my life or time to just zone out and concentrate on the task at hand. Some items for sale or possible trade just ask..click on my profile and send me an email.

Gazelle Lamps c1950s

Another mega score, after some serious deliberation and passing on what was def a mid mod ceramic lamp that someone painted, I put it down and I tucked these beautiful babies under my arm and headed for the checkout with a real bargain. Good thing I stuck with these Gazelles as I just spotted a pair online listed for $75. Other neat-o items in this pic is the wooden years of service commemorative lamp I'm sure had a fiberglass shade once that was my grandfathers, it is a replica of a steel mill at the defunct U.S.Steel formerly Stelco Steel formerly Hilton Works when gramps was foreman there. And behind that is a Blue Mtn Pottery horn planter that was my parents.

  1. Gotta watch that "online listed for", it can bite you squarely in the back side. I've learned to stick with what I know something has sold for. I often wonder how often items sell for actual asking on sites like 1stdibs.

    1. I'm very much on the same page as you I totally agree, I've worked for an auction for 19yrs and I don't trust auction sites for placing a value and I totally don't expect to make $75. I try to keep it real when I buy something to flip and place a value based on what I would pay for that item if buying for myself. For these lamps $30-$40 for the pair would be tripling what I paid.

    2. I had a dealer in the store the other day from West Palm Beach that claims he sells on 1stdibs, and according to him pieces rarely command the full prices you see listed...
