What's old is new

This is my place to show off the items I would call vintage, things I have either refinished or kept as is and find interesting. I am still a kid at heart bringing home what some might call junk and am always in search of that buried treasure. I am not a picker and I am not a hoarder, working with my hands on my own time repairing or refinishing the things I find brings me peace of mind and time to myself to contemplate whatever has transpired in my life or time to just zone out and concentrate on the task at hand. Some items for sale or possible trade just ask..click on my profile and send me an email.

My Excitement Overules My Diction

Please excuse my grammar and diction when viewing my posts; I don't want anyone to think that I'm completely uneducated. When I find something that I think is antique, vintage or just plain cool I don't automatically see dollar signs and hit the Google box to see what that particular item is being sold for expecting to get the same return, I hit the internet to find the history and background on the particular item. Used items are only worth what someone is willing to pay which is also why I'll occasionally post the amount I paid especially if I'm going to invest my time into restoring, obviously then there will be a  mark up. I'm no pro but can tell if something has some age to it just by the materials used in it's construction i.e. Flat head screws (straight) vs. Robertson screws (square), if a piece of furniture has all flat head screws than it was likely made earlier or slightly after 1908 or has been reassembled by a novice restorer. How do I know this? The Robertson screw was invented in 1908 in Milton, Ontario not 20mins from me and has since become a standard for furniture builders. Anyhow back to my original point, I am educated and have a wide expanse of what some would call useless knowledge also a diverse and large amount of things that interests me that I rely on to make decisions when I purchase or acquire for resale or to keep in my own collection. My excitement overrules my diction when I post simply because I'm thrilled to share with all of you who view my blog.

    1. I'm a night owl also, your GF wouldn't happen to be a PR rep or maybe there related. LOL

  2. My daughter and SIL call me to tell my when they find typos in my posts. We all get caught up in the excitement of the find and forget to proofread sometimes. I threw away all my red pens when I retired from teaching. If I don't get paid for it, I'm not grading anything! LOL
